Writing

In 2020, Molly Mckew completed her PhD in Australian History, titled ‘Remembering the Counterculture: Melbourne’s Inner-Urban Alternative Communities of the 1960s and 1970s’ (PhD in History, 2019). Molly has since published research from this project in Overland and the Conversation, and has co-written a bookchapter in the 2019 collection, Post-Punk and Urban Australia: Exploring Dogs in Space.  Molly also publishes non-fiction, memoir and drawings.

Worco crafts co-operative project

In 2019 Molly was commissioned to write a short history celebrating the 40th anniversary of a Preston based crafts co-operative, Worco. With interviews with former and current members and with anecdotes and photos from the Worco archives, the history celebrates a unique and thriving crafts co-operative that treasures and promotes artisinal craftsmanship.
